Knight Birthday Party Goblet Craft & Table Set Up

This idea came from Family Fun magazine.  I wasn't sure whether my son would be interested, but it worked out so well I had to blog about it.  My kindergartener was eager to help with preparing for his birthday party and this was really a perfect craft for him!

We picked up plastic wine glasses at Target then he added self adhesive jewels from a craft store.  Target actually carries stick on jewels, too, but they were too girly (hearts & butterflies!).  The jewels on the Family Fun website example are arranged in a flower pattern, but we had a random design.  :)  

Oriental Trading also sells some pre-jeweled golden mugs, but the joy factor was way higher making them ourselves.  Were the goblets a hit with our guests?  Absolutely-- all of them asked to take them home!

We covered our table with a yellow plastic cloth. With purple plates, gold napkins, and these goblets, we really had a royal-looking, knightly gathering place!  Our table center piece was a "fire lamp" found on ebay.  I scattered some silver tinsel around the base of the lamp, then sprinkled the golden dots from the helmet construction for more pizazz.

For snacks, we had bowls of cut fruit and some cheese puffs.  We set out plastic sword party picks for the knights to grab their snacks-- a bit of extra table fun.  Also, at each place was a star lollipop.  The knights pretended these were marshmallows and "roasted" them over the fire lamp.  What a hoot!
